some tips for you all so you can stay organised too! You never know when these tips may be handy, especially if you are in school (like me) and you get those really hectic weeks where you just have so much on your plate!
My first tip for you all is to write everything down! Don’t expect yourself to remember everything you have to do on a busy day because chances are, everything will just get jumbled and messy in your head. Find a nice notebook, weekly planner or to-do list and write it all down! Any events, tasks, ideas or plans that you have for your week. This way, everything is out on paper right in front of you and you can visually see exactly what you need to do. No more stressing or worrying you might forget something! You can have a clear mind. Also, make sure you write everything down on the weekend before your school/work week actually starts. Then you won’t forget to write down your tasks.
Next tip is to work in a clean environment. When I try to get my homework done or write a blog post, I always find it hard to work when my pens are everywhere, books are sprawled around and I am working in a tiny corner of my desk. So before you settle down on your week old messy desk (yes, I see you) just do a little tidying first. It won’t take long - I don’t like tidying either - but if it means you can get your tasks done faster, then why ever not? You will have more space to set up your books and planners and everything will be easy to get to! I also recommend you work during the day rather at night, get some beauty sleep! The natural day light will be much more helpful and brighter too and your mind will be more alert and productive.
To be organised, you have to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! This is such a key point and probably my most effective. When you plan out your week, day or whatever, everything is set out for you and you know what you need to do when you need to do it. If you don’t plan (like young Ellie) things are going to be forgotten, things handed up late and everything will be out of place. I plan my week (almost) every week and on especially crazy days, I plan my day. I write down what I need to do and choose my top 3 or priority tasks and focus on them until they are complete. For a majority of you who are in school, write down all your assignments and when they are due on your calendar or in your phone as a reminder, because we all can sometimes forget an assignment and end up working until the night before it is due. (Don’t do this!) *guilty*
A tip extended from this is to use apps on your phone! Some apps that I really love to use on my iphone are Calendar, Homework and Reminders. I use calendar for friend catch ups, events (school and social) and sometimes due dates! Calendar is helpful because if I don’t have my notebook or bullet journal with me, I can just check my calendar for my big daily events. Next is my favourite app for school and it is called ‘Homework’. Original, I know. It is great for planning assignments and which ones to focus on and complete first. It also reminds you a few days before they are due so if you forget, it’s got you covered! Also, different subjects are colour coded! It makes it so much easier! Reminders is my go-to app for writing lists like to-do, blog posts or even just random inspiration notes and ideas. It is great for jotting down quick little dot points!
And my last tip for you is to set goals. When you set goals for yourself, you have something to work towards and you are more motivated! You don’t have to set them every week, but I like to set little ones every month and I just keep them in the back of my mind. Also, when you complete a goal, you feel proud of yourself and you have gained new skills. And if you don’t, keep trying and you will still learn just as much or more from your mistakes!
And that is all my tips for staying organised throughout 2018! I hope you enjoyed today’s post and I look forward to seeing you again soon! ThankYOU for reading and I hope you learnt something new about staying organised!
